How to lock your computer to prevent accidental system
modification
These steps outline how to use your screensaver password to lock your computer so that
accidental mouse clicks or keyboard strokes (i.e. from kids messing around while you
answer the phone etc.), don't lead to erased files or system changes.
Right click on your desktop
Select 'properties'
click on the 'Screen saver' tab
If a screen saver is not already selected, pick one
Click the 'Password Protected' box
Click the 'Change' button and set a new password if needed, make it simple so you dont
forget it
Adjust the time delay in the 'Wait' box if needed
Click 'OK'
If you want to
be able to activate your sceen saver instantly, do the following
Click on the 'Start' button on your taskbar
Click on 'Find' and then 'Find Files or Folders' on the submenu
Search for files named *.scr on the C: drive
From the list, select a screensaver, right click on it, and drag to the desktop
Select 'Create Shortcut' from the dropdown list
Just double-click the shortcut to activeate the screensaver
Press any key and enter password to begin working again
